Man Arrested After Stabbing Victim To Death At A Burial Ceremony

Operatives attached to the Ogun state police command have arrested a man who allegedly killed another man at a burial ceremony in the State. It was scooped that a 23-year-old man identified as Isikilu Shittu was allegedly stabbed to death by one Julius Oliseh, 32, following a quarrel at a burial ceremony in Ogun.

According to the Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected killer was arrested at about 2 pm after a complaint was lodged at Mowe Police Station by the victim’s brother, Akeem Shittu.

The brother had reported that he was at a burial party with the victim in Ogunru Village, via Mowe when an argument ensued between the suspect and his late brother over an undisclosed matter.

He told the police that the suspected killer broke a bottle during the argument, stabbed the victim on the neck, and he died on the spot.“Upon the report, the DPO Mowe Division, CSP Francis Ebhuoma, led his men to the scene where the suspect who has been struggling to escape was promptly arrested and taken to the station for interrogation,” Oyeyemi revealed in a statement.

He added that the victim’s body has been deposited at the general hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution.
